Chuck is originally from Spencer, Indiana (Owen County) but has lived in Mitchell since 1992. He and his wife, Jonda, have been married since 1985. Chuck started Superior Small Engines in 2002. If he had realized everything that he needed to learn to operate an outdoor power equipment shop he would have been overwhelmed and probably not ventured down the path. But, as he says, "I'm glad I didn't know. I'm glad I did venture down the path. We have learned a day at a time, a season at a time." Chuck acknowledges that only by the support of his wife, his staff, their suppliers and especially the community have they had any degree of success. "No one succeeds alone. But failure you can do all by yourself."

Carl is originally from Dubois County, but has lived in Orange County since 2004. He worked part time for a number of years, then in 2008 he started full-time. He has been an integral part of the growth of Superior Small Engines. In fact, the owner says "I couldn't have and wouldn't have done this without Carl".

Jonda has worked side by side with owner and husband Chuck Davis, since they married in 1985. As business owners it was clear from the beginning that Jonda's presence overseeing the financial side of the business, would allow Chuck to work and market the business towards the success it is today. Originally from Bloomington, Indiana, in 1992 they made Mitchell Indiana their home and the community in which they would open their business. The family became complete and busy with the birth of Isaac and then Jack. Jonda, as Chuck would say, is part of everything; from beginning to end.

Scott began his career with Superior Small Engines in 2016 as a counter assistant and machine assembler. In 2017 Scott took over the Sales Manager position and even still assembles all the machines that are on our showroom/sales floor. Prior to coming to work with Superior Small Engines, Scott managed a PowerSport store for 24 years. Originally from Linton, Indiana, in 1970 Scott became a resident of Bedford, Indiana. Married in 1979, Scott has 2 children, and 3 grandchildren. We are so fortunate to have Scott manage the sales division.

Meet Lee, our Parts Manager, Lee worked his way to manager in retail prior to taking over the Parts Manager position here at Superior Small Engines in 2011. Prior to that Lee served his country for 6 years in the United States Navy. Originally from Shelbyville Indiana, Lee grew up in Mitchell, then made Mitchell his home for his wife and 3 children. Lee's background makes him the perfect fit as Parts Manager here at Superior Small Engines.

Kyle Smith joined our team at Superior Small Engines in March 2020 as our Service Coordinator, working closely with technicians to ensure smooth operations in the service department. Kyle became an invaluable member of the team throughout 2020 and now helps run daily operations as our service manager. A 2015 graduate of Columbus East High School, Kyle resides in Mitchell with wife, Chelsea and three children, Keifer, Kyzaiah and Doris.

James joined our team in early 2024. He brings with him significant experience, an impressive set of tools and a great attitude. James keeps his cool even when the equipment he's repairing doesn't want to cooperate. Always focused and always positive, we're very fortunate to have James on our team... And so are our customers.

Meet Andy. He primarily works as our delivery driver but helps out in other areas as well. Andy worked for the City of Mitchell for several years, then worked at a stone quarry. He’s been around heavy equipment his whole life, so our flatbed delivery truck doesn’t intimidate him at all. During the school year he also runs a bus route for Mitchell Community Schools. Andy might bring your kid home, then your lawn mower – maybe at the same time. He’s just that good!! Andy lives in Orange County with his wife (also a bus driver) and two teenage sons.

Adam does a little of everything while he's here. He writes work orders, unloads trucks, puts machines together, assists the Service Department, the Sales Department or just helps where he is needed. He's even refilled the boss's coffee cup a time or two. Adam brings a great attitude and unstoppable energy to our team. If you see a blur go past you at Superior, it was probably Adam. He lives in Orleans with his wife and four kids. We're very happy he has joined our team!
